Blackthorn Payments Offers FREE Online Donations Solution to Help Nonprofits with COVID-19 Efforts

Nonprofits working on important fundraising efforts in response to COVID-19 now have the chance to use an online donations app for FREE thanks to Blackthorn Payments, a Salesforce© AppExchange© partner.


Organizations using Salesforce’s Nonprofit Success Pack© (NPSP) can create Salesforce-native donations forms that route credit card payments directly to Stripe and donor data to Salesforce records. Forms can be embedded directly on website pages through an iframe. Only a few nonprofits will be selected to take advantage of this offer. Blackthorn is requesting entries be submitted by Midnight ET on Friday, May 29, 2020 via the form below.

Even though we hope the worst of it is over, there’s still a lot of work to do. Nonprofits are at the forefront of this effort, whether it be preventative research, assisting the sick, or our aiding essential workers. We want to help them where we can, and streamlining payment processes can open up valuable time for other more important efforts, like getting the word out,” said Chris Federspiel, CEO of Blackthorn.io.

Blackthorn Payments is well known for its deep integration and partnership with Stripe. Because the solution routes credit card information directly to Stripe without storing information on servers, Blackthorn provides one of the most secure, PCI-compliant methods on the market.

Blackthorn.io was founded in 2015 when the team noticed a need for a native donations solution. As the ecosystem has evolved – and more donations apps have entered the market – so has Blackthorn’s solutions. They now offer two native apps, Blackthorn Payments and Blackthorn Events. While Blackthorn no longer offers their Donations app for purchase, Federspiel wanted to bring back the solution temporarily to help those in need.

“Even though we don’t currently offer the product, we do have some customers grandfathered in who are still using it. It’s a reliable tool that nonprofits using NPSP and Stripe can use to streamline the donations process. And it’s easy enough to implement with our documentation, so we figured why not offer it to a few non-profits who have a relevant mission and are really making an impact.”


To be eligible, nonprofit teams must use Stripe, Salesforce’s NPSP, and take credit cards for donations. Blackthorn will not charge a subscription fee or a per-transaction fee for the length of COVID-19 campaigns that run to the end of 2021. Any currency that Stripe supports can be accepted, and if you need to offer multiple currency options, you can create a form for each currency.
